Welcome to the home of mentoring theory
A network for mentors by mentors, providing CPD, learning, news, resources and a community.
What is the International Mentor Network?
We are an accreditation and learning community provided by The Mentoring School, seeking to raise standards in mentoring.
We have spoken to hundreds of mentors around the world in our role as a training provider for mentoring courses. This has given us a unique insight into the support, learning and networking that they have told us they would like access to. As a result, the International Mentor Network was born.
Fields of mentoring we cover in our membership:
- Further/Higher Education
- Complex needs
- Plus more…
In our market research we have found that many mentors are concerned about there not being any consistent standards about what constitutes a mentor.
In order to provide a minimum standard for registered mentors, we have devised a simple 7-question quiz that covers basic entry-level knowledge, such as ways of delivering mentoring sessions or how unconscious bias affects mentoring. This is accompanied by a free 4-video course for those who would like to understand the foundations of mentoring theory. This is provided free as part of the induction process for new members.
What do members get?
Apart from personal networking and CPD, members will also get:
- A bi-monthly digital magazine
- Access to an online forum
- Facebook and LinkedIn hubs
- Attend the internationally-renowned Mentor Summit, or stream online
- Certificate of registration
- Some levels gain post-nominal initials (see below)
- Some membership levels include listings on the Register of Mentors
- Access to The Mentor’s Table – mastermind groups for mentors
The International Register of Mentors
Over the years we have been contacted by organisations, mentors and individuals asking us to connect them with other mentors. We will therefore be publishing an online Register of Mentors available to the public, to connect with mentors or to help them check the status of their mentor.
Sector Advisory Board
During 2018 we will be holding elections from within the Network to a Sector Advisory Board. This is a Board (who will primarily meet online) of mentors from different sectors to provide advice, guidance and direction for the strategic aims of the network. Each sector will be represented by an elected mentor and an elected deputy.
